Choosing a care home for a parent or loved one is one of the biggest decisions a family can make — and it’s rarely made with much notice or preparation. If you’re trying to work out how to choose the right care home in Northumberland, this checklist walks through the questions that matter most, so you can approach visits and decisions with confidence.

1. Start With Location and Distance

Before anything else, think about how a location will affect visiting in practice. A home that’s a short drive away will naturally see more frequent, more relaxed visits than one an hour or more from family.
